Death by Chocolate was released in early 1996 as the first book under the Sleeping Giant imprint. This impressive debut effort tells the story of a chocolate shop owner who, through no fault of his own, plunges into a vat of chocolate and is subsequently merged with the sticky-sweet substance. A tale that mixes elements of science fiction, adventure, and humor, Death by Chocolate was supported and funded through a grant by the Xeric Foundation. This book was also the first in many of Yurkovich's works thematically linked to food (see: The Broccoli Agenda, for example).
